Dear Readers,
I was walking through the city the other day, late for a meeting, when I really saw* the buildings around me. Not just as places of business, but as textured monuments, filled with light and shadows, constantly changing their nature through the weather, time and angle of the sun.
The idea came to me to try to capture that feeling, that layered complexity, in a single image. That’s how 'Concrete Poetry: City Echoes' came about. It's a concept of making multi-layered photo collages from sections and zoomed in parts of buildings around the city. Focusing on repetition and strong structural lines creates a dialogue between individual concrete segments and creates depth and interest.
I think this would look incredible printed large as wall art. The monochrome palette and geometric forms would complement modern interiors. I think it could also work nicely on a t-shirt, or even a coffee mug – a subtle reminder of the unexpected beauty hiding in plain sight of our day to day lifes and surroundings.
