Lately, I've been captivated by the stark beauty of our cities. Not the grand monuments or the tourist spots, but the quiet corners where everyday life unfolds. The idea for 'Concrete Dreams' came to me while walking through a construction site on the outskirts of town. The way the light hit the unfinished concrete, creating these bold shadows and shapes was amazing. It struck me that even in these harsh, angular places, human stories are unfolding all the time.
I wanted to capture that contrast—the hard geometry of the urban landscape with the soft, fleeting presence of people. The silhouetted figures add a touch of mystery and invite the viewer to imagine the lives behind them. The muted colors help to emphasize the rawness and simplicity of the scene. What can often be a sad scene for others, becomes warm in our mind because of the emotional contrast in colors. The shapes remind us that anything can become art if we really look at them.
I see this image working beautifully as a wall art print. Its strong lines and simple palette would complement a modern interior. A black and white version will have the same effect! The contrast and boldness really make it shine, and it could easily suit any house aesthetic. 'Concrete Dreams' has become my favorite image of 2024.
