Last week, while I was absorbed in discovering the nooks and forgotten streets of our dear concrete jungle as we photographers call it , I just walked straight by as small, cramped sandwich store thinking there nothing there too exceptional to take apicture of ..how silly of me ... On the way back , something inside spoke; so I turned around to see what might be whispering through me .....As I observed its rough charm through the my cameras lens; this little bodega that hadn'tchanged at all stood unaffected amongst soaring buildings.
This scruffy time capsule left gracefully from a bygone era . A perfect embodiment of persistence in a city drowning fast under the relentless tide of homogenous condos and shopping malls It called at me . It got lodged in my memory like splinter. Or I guess better in our visual lingo: Stuck like a colourful blob of spilled paint
This intriguing duality made consider the impact that forces shaping urban spaces .I kept coming up again and and it dawn on the as too how images; just like buildings carry the imprint and legacy of time.... How long. I wonder, before will the area falls pretty to a soulless development . Will they pave pardise and all that jazz...? One final, though? The image captures I believe; this weird sense of wonder and the uneasy anticipation most residents (former amd present_ must feel .A bittersweet victory ... if one was actually meeded and fought for? .... That would work nicely don't you think? Maybe splashed large wall for an awesome print on canvas.
